The first charter for the American Legion Post #0241 was issued on October 3, 1919. This was a temporary charter until the first American Legion National Convention was held on November 11, 1919. The original members of the first charter are as follows:

The post renewed their charter on August 28, 1923 as the Thomas Quayle Post #0241. The I.O.O.F. lodge was the meeting place for the post during the 1920's and the 1930's. In the late 1930's the post started holding meeting in the city hall while looking to obtain their own club rooms. In 1942 the vacated Talboys - Schubmehl was purchased and was to be remodeled as post home and clubrooms. That idea was put on hold until the end of WWII.
Late 1945 it was decided to build a new post home and clubrooms on the Talboys - Schubmehl site and construction was started. The new post home was dedicated early 1946. The post also renewed their charter on May 3, 1946 changing the name to Quayle - Shuster Post #0241. The post struggled thru the fifty's into the sixty's while the membership was steadily increasing. The bar and lounge area of the post home was remodeled in 1967 - 1968, taking on today's look. This included elevating and carpeting the floor in the lounge. The bar area was enlarged by removing the office and bricking, paneling and new lighting was added to give the place the rustic look.
The membership continue to climb thru the seventies and eighties reaching a all time high of 555 members. In the middle 1980's new exterior lighting (American Legion sign awning) was added to give the building a modern day look. The post home received an addition in 1987. The kitchen was enlarged and modernize, new bathroom's, office and a new walkin cooler was added. The new basement is the home of the Gambling operations and storage.
The post renewed the charter July 11, 1987 changing the name of the post to Quayle - Shuster - Truman - Muhich - AML Post #0241. The membership of the post today (2004) is 421 members. (The photo gallery has pictures of the old and new post home.)
